Shrub native to North America. Its leaves contain active ingredients that give it an astringent action thanks to their tannin content and which is manifested by a contraction of the vessels: the veins and capillaries contract more strongly, promoting blood flow, and a vitamin action due to their flavonoid content. This action results in an increase in the resistance of small veins and capillaries and in a decrease in capillary permeability, responsible for edema and inflammation. In addition, flavonoids are antioxidants that protect the vein wall and capillaries.
