Mandelic acid was discovered by heating bitter nut extract. The name derives from the word “Mandel” which means “Almond”. It is an alpha-hydroxy acid with an interest in treating skin imperfections. It has a moisturizing and exfoliating activity, which favors the removal of the surface layers of keratinocytes from the epidermis, and in turn activates the regeneration of said epithelium.
